As I have posted before, I am a huge fan of digital photography. I am always looking for a service to use for printing high quality prints and photo albums. Clearly, there are the big names like Shutterfly, Snapfish or Kodakgallery. These are good options, but I have two concerns:
- Quality – The quality on these albums are good, but not excellent from the reviews. This is not to say that you shouldn’t order from them, but that they typically would not be the best source for a family heirloom quality album.
- Upload – The problem with both of the above services is that they require to upload your images before you can create your album. This may not sound like much, but can get lengthy if you are dealing with 100+ photos.
MyPublisher is good because they solve both of problem 1 & 2 above. That is, they provide higher quality output than the mass market sites and they provide an intuitive program that you run locally to create your album. The beauty is that you manage all of your pictures locally and all of your album and picture manipulation does not require a connection to the Internet. This is a much faster and more efficient approach. After all your editing is complete, you click done and the MyPublisher software somehow manipulates the photos (I am thinking that it resizes them to match the required size in the output) and automatically uploads them.
The other cool thing is that the final album is available online. You can provide a URL for friends/family to view the album and to order their own copies.
I have an album on order and will compose a post highlighting the final product.
Update: The albums just arrived and I am very pleased with the results. The turnaround time was incredibly fast and the resulting output was great. I highly recommend the service
