I recently got fed up with all of the various holes and security risks associate with Microsoft Internet Explorer and so I decided to try a new tack. I downloaded and install the new Mozilla Firefox Browser. I was not sure what to make of it, but I figured that a change from MS would be good.
I have installed it and have played around with it for a bit and have to say that in general I am quite pleased. It is at least as full featured as IE, but without any MS strings attached. The only downside is that it does not support ActiveX controls so certain sites such as MSN Carpoint’s auto configurator do not work. IMO, this is only a minor annoyance and is a worthwhile trade off to prevent your computer from being hacked, spywared or otherwise ruined by MS stuff.
The two browsers also co-exist peacefully on the same system so there is no problem with installing Firefox and IE together. That way you get the best of both worlds. Mozilla for the majority of browsing and IE for those limited cases where you need ActiveX support.
Definitely try Mozilla. It is a small download of about 4 MB. You will not be disappointed.
