Not Many Updates as of late

Sorry,
I have not been updating this blog as much as I would like as of late. Anyway, I have been focusing as of late on archiving applications for digital photography. I want an efficient application that copies the actual jpg files and uses html and has the ability to display a slide show. Most apps use a proprietary .exe file to run the slideshow, this is fun, but I am worried that some day the app won’t run on my computer (Remember DOS Apps?) and I won’t be able to access the pictures. My current strategy is to autorun an HTML file which links to the .exe slideshow(s) and also to the actual jpeg files burned on the CD.

I just purchased a great slideshow app. It uses the whole proprietary .exe thing, but it is small and powerful. It is called Picture to Exe and you can find it here.

Photoblog

I just set up and ran a new photoblog. You can find it here. I am in the processs of developing a unified front page interface that will combine this text and the photoblog interface. This is a challenge which is made easier using the php include method of page design. Keep your eyes out for it. In the meantime, feel free to visit the page at your convenience to check it out. I have yet to post any pictures, but that should be remedied in the near future.

Just was speaking with Mike who is out in Oakland. He just told me some huge news—Lauren is pregnant due in January! Congrats on the soon to be dad and mom!

On a side note, Mike told me about a new FREE web based game called America’s Army. The initial reviews are very positive. Unfortunately, rumor has it, it will not run on a T20 because it does not have graphics horsepower. Bummer, but those of you who have powerful desktops might want to try it. If you run it, leave some comments for this post and tell me what you think.

Digital Camera

Well after 2 years of strong service my Sony DSC-S70 digital camera bit the dust. This occurred 2 months ago right after the Sloan sailing trip. I took incredibly care of that camera so I have no idea how it happened. (Could the salty air have caused corrosion?) I was bit depressing especially since I was just getting good with Photoshop. Anyway my problem is now solved because I just replaced it with a Canon Powershot G2. I hope to get a photo section of this site up and running soon so I can display pics.

Modifying MT Templates

FYI, I just found a great thread in the mt website which talks about customizing building custom templates with Dreamweaver. Since DW is now my web design tool of choice, this will hopefully allow me to do a ton of customization hopefully in the near future. Keep your eyes peeled.
